Make something out of nothing

The recipe:
First take a nice, smooth, hipster-like song that chicks like. Let's take this one for example
Pretty pretty good. Now use that nice psy-trance sound to turn it into awesome. Let's have a look at what GMS or Growling Mad Scientists have prepared for us

Boom! Perfect! Fantastix! That's what I'm talking about. Now put it on repeat and dance for an hour.

Chocolate Distance

Karuan (also karwan marouf or simply Karwan) was born in 1976 in Vienna as the son of kurdish parents. Karuan’s love for music arose from the Kurdish singer Şivan Perwer and from the traditional Kurdish celebrations. At the age of six Karuan started to record his singing on music tapes. Ever since that day making music is Karuan’s most favourite occupation. In 1995 Karuan started to work on his own solo projects which were largely inspired by folk and black Music. At this time Karuan’s music was strictly band-oriented. When Karuan began to arrange his songs on the computer he slowly turned to be an electronic musician. Today the autodidact Karuan is able to combine and synchronise these various experiences in his own music. The result is an artistic bridge between the oriental culture of his kurdish family and the European culture in which he lives in.

Shuuut uuup!!!

Shut up, shut up, shut up!!!
That's the outcome of the first day of the World Cup. Of course I'm referring to the roaring sound (more like the sound of a fly trapped in the stadium) by the Vuvuzela. Surely the Vuvuzela is part of South African football culture, but I don't give a rats ass so SHUT UP. Even while watching the matches on the television it is so annoying that I want to change channel and watch - I don't know what- badminton! I can't even imagine how awful would be in the stadium. I really wonder how stupid those people are. Why don't they get that if the horns are continuous for the entire 90+ minutes, they lose their effect and point add anything other than a headache. The Vuvuzela sound is just plain stupid without any inspiration and it totally destroyed the atmosphere. This is how you do it; watch the video to learn how the atmosphere in a football match should be.

Now in the football overview, the first two games were nothing special. The first one (South Africa - Mexico 1 - 1) was OK with good pace and several good moments. The second, however, ( Uruguay - France 0 - 0) was a huge disappointment.

Procrastination

The best example of procrastination would be a post with just the title.

... but the hell with it, I have to win this time. Procrastination refers to the counterproductive deferment of actions or tasks to a later time. Psychologists often cite such behavior as a mechanism for coping with the anxiety associated with starting or completing any task or decision. There are three criteria for a behavior to be classified as procrastination: it must be counterproductive, needless, and delaying. Obviously Wikipedia has helped many many people to overcome procrastination :p. Here is a nice video about this thing we love but at the same time hate to do, procrastinate.

Favorite Quotes

This is a small piece from the book Fierce Invalids Home from Hot Climates by Tom Robbins. Enjoy..

"All depression has its roots in self-pity, and all self-pity is rooted in people taking themselves too seriously."

At the time Switters had disputed her assertion. Even at seventeen, he was aware that depression could have chemical causes.

"The key word here is roots," Maestra had countered. "The roots of depression. For most people, self-awareness and self-pity blossom simultaneously in early adolescence. It's about that time that we start viewing the world as something other than a whoop-de-doo playground, we start to experience personally how threatening it can e, how cruel and unjust. At the very moment when we become, for the first time, both introspective and socially conscientious, we receive the bad news that the world, by and large, doesn't give a rat's ass. Even an old tomato like me can recall how painful, scary, and disillusioning that realization was. So, there's a tendency, then, to slip into rage and self-pity, which if indulged, can fester into bouts of depression."

"Yeah but Maestra - "

"Don't interrupt. Now, unless someone stronger and wiser - a friend, a parent, a novelist, filmmaker, teacher, or musician - can josh us out of it, can elevate us and show us how petty and pompous and monumentally useless it is to take ourselves so seriously, then depression can become a habit, which, in tern, can produce a neurological imprint. Are you with me? Gradually, our brain chemistry becomes conditioned to react to negative stimuli in a particular, predictable way. One thing'll go wrong and it'll automatically switch on its blender and mix us that black cocktail, the ol' doomsday daiquiri, and before we know it, we're soused to the gills from the inside out. Once depression has become electrochemically integrated, it can be extremely difficult to philosophically or psychologically override it; by then it's playing by physical rules, a whole different ball game. That's why Switters my dearest, every time you've shown signs of feeling sorry for yourself, I've played my blues records really loud or read to you from The Horse's Mouth. And that's why when you've exhibited the slightest tendency toward self-importance, I've reminded you that you and me - you and I: excuse me - may be every bit as important as the President or the pope or the biggest prime-time icon in Hollywood, but none of us is much more than a pimple on the ass-end of creation, so let's not get carried away with ourselves. Preventive medicine, boy. It's preventive medicine."

"But what about self-esteem?"

"Heh! Self-esteem is for sissies. Accept that you're a pimple and try to keep a lively sense of humor about it. That way lies grace - and maybe even glory."
